If you are like me you like to drink coffee, tea and red wine. All three of those things aren’t friends with my teeth when it comes to having pearly whites. Since I am not going to give up my daily caffeine intake anytime soon, I was happy to hear that I could whiten my teeth by adding one small step to my morning routine. There is a simple, DIY teeth whitening option that doesn’t involve sticking things on your teeth or waiting 30 minutes to eat or drink.
I found out that adding a drop of orange essential oil to your toothpaste each day can whiten your teeth. I have been doing this for a couple of days and I swear I see a difference. My friend has been doing it for a couple of weeks now and I know I see a difference in her smile.
It is so simple. Just add a drop of orange essential oil to the toothpaste you put on the brush. Don’t add water, yet. Just start brushing. At first, it tastes a little weird because it seems like you are eating a delicious, juicy orange while brushing your teeth. I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t do that. After you get over the initial taste it starts to taste like an orange creamsicle. I happen to think that is pretty yummy. After a minute or so of brushing without water, I add some and then continue to brush as normal.
Whitening your teeth this way is super quick and easy. You don’t have to put those silly plastic strips on your teeth and try not to drool. The orange essential oil is from the rind of the orange so it isn’t acidic on your teeth. Your teeth won’t get sensitive like they do with chemical whiteners.
Give using a drop of orange essential oil on your toothpaste to whiten your teeth a try! What do you have to lose except some stains?
Once you’ve got the orange essential oil in your house you can diffuse it, add a drop to flavor water or use it in a variety of recipes. I think it smells and tastes amazing.
